2023 Honey Spirits Competition

Best Made-with-Honey Gin

Gin is a botanical symphony in a glass. The herbal aromas paired with honey are a masterpiece in each sip. Distillers have been able to craft a spirit that keeps the essence of the true components of a gin while adding honey to the blend.

Within the expansive realm of spirits, only a handful of libations showcase the sharp refinement and intricate botanical layers found in gin.

We might be biased about this list, but it’s worth every sip. Enjoy this crafted list of new age gins:

We’ve taste-tested quite a few honey gins this year.

Here are our three favorites.

No. 1

Colorado Botanical Gin

Durango, CO

The variety of botanicals, 13 to be exact, brings out a beautiful flavor profile in this spirit. With some slight heat on the tongue, the honey and citrus notes balance out to make a classic gin. The herbal characteristics of rosemary and thyme give this spirit a refreshing, crisp finish.

No. 2

Barr Hill Tom Cat Kingdom Strength

Montpelier, VT

Caledonia Spirits does an amazing job of blending a nutty, caramel, vanilla, smoked oak gin. All of these flavors’ abilities to cohesively mix well to create a well-defined gin is done to perfection.

No. 3

Barr Hill Gin

Montpelier, VT

Floral, herbal and sweet are just a few characteristics to describe this spirit. Upfront honey flavors are matched with hints of juniper to bring out the botanicals. Barr Hill Gin holds strong as a neat libation or is crafted well for a classic Bee’s Knees cocktail.
